Prisoner accuses cellmate of sodomising him
GEORGE TOWN: A 22-year-old man has alleged that he was sodomised by an older cellmate at the state prison in Gaol Road here.
The man told a warder that the cellmate, 38, had forced himself on him while he was asleep on Thursday.
The 22-year-old, who is in jail for buying stolen property, said he tried to fight the man off but he was too strong. The younger man has been sent to the Penang Hospital for a medical check-up.
State CID chief Senior Asst Comm II Wan Abdullah Tuanku Said said yesterday that the suspect had not been arrested yet, adding that a report was lodged at the Datuk Keramat police station.
He said police have classified the case as carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years with possible whipping.
In another case, police seized eight personal computers used for gambling and arrested two men at a cybercafe in Relau on Thursday.
A police team, acting on a tip-off, raided the premises about 9pm. The duo, in their 20s, have been remanded.
